Black Line Paintings
What I call my black line paintings begin with a blank canvas. Black lines and spots of paint are added in. I decide upon a color palette for the painting and then, through a process of constant paint application, stepping back and assessing, and more paint application, the painting forms until I feel it is fully balanced. Some of the white of the canvas is allowed to show through, much like the white of the paper in a drawing is used to create highlights and resting places for the viewer’s eye.
